I got accepted into the Pre-Pharmacy Program, and my transcript was sent it with my grades. The program said I need a 67% in math, in the transcript UBC received my math mark was 64%, but just a few days after my math mark rose to the 67% I need. Will UBC reject me based on that 64%? or can I sent it a transcript with the updated 67% math mark?
Thank You
Hi Allan,
Thank you for your question! If you are concerned your offer will be taken away you should contact your evaluator directly. Please contact us so we can provide you with their name and contact information.
All the best,
Kathryn
I have received notice from UBC admissions from my first choice, Business, that I will be reassessed in May, but I have not received any notice about my second choice for Arts. Some of my friends have been notified about both their first and second choices. What happens with my second choice?
Thank you
Hi Michelle,
Thanks for your comment! Unfortunately I can’t answer your question without looking at your application. Please feel free to contact us so we can look into your second choice.

Has any one received offer for engineer?
Hi there,
I applied for the Summer (may) term at your university back in September of last year. I have handed in all the required documents as my SSC account says that my application is being evaluated. I applied to SFU 2 months after applying to UBC and I have already gotten my offer of admittance to the university.
I know we should be expecting a decision between March – May but I live out of province and I need to plan my move if I get accepted and decide to come to UBC. I am just wondering when would I be hearing back as I am stuck planning my financial aid until I make a decision as to which university I will be choosing.
Any help in this matter will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks.
Hi Suman,
Unfortunately I can’t tell you when exactly you will hear something. You are welcome to contact us via email or telephone so we can look into your individual application to see if anything is slowing the process.
Best Regards,
Kathryn
Hi,
I’m a transfer student. I applied to the faculty of arts to both Vancouver and Okanagan campuses. Currently, I have been admitted to the Okanagan campus, which is my second choice. My application to the Vancouver campus is still pending. I’m just wondering what I need to do so that my first choice, the Vancouver campus, can still be in consideration? Thanks.
Michael
Hi Michael,
Congratulations on your offer of admission! When you go to the SSC page to accept or decline your Okanagan offer you will be asked if you still want to be considered for your first choice. As long as you select yes, your first choice application will not be affected at all.
If you plan on attending UBC regardless of whether you get into your first choice, its a good idea to accept your offer to secure your space. It will not change how you are considered for your first choice, and the acceptance deposit can be transferred to your new offer of admission if you receive one.
Hope this helps!
Kathryn
Hi,
My question does the recommend material have to be sent? I am asking because I am a first year student and my GPA is higher then the competative so thats why I am asking. I also sent in my high school marks. Thanks for you help.
Bikaramjit
Hi Bikaramjit,
Unless the document is listed as required, it is not mandatory to send this information to our office; however, this gives us some additional information that may help us to evaluate your application. The reason why we recommend that you send this material now is so that we can avoid any unnecessary delays in the processing of your application if for some reason we are missing any information from your required documents to make a decision. Hope this clarifies a bit!

I’m an international student and applying as a visiting student for fall term 2012.
In the requirements for English proficiency it says that
Achieve a final grade of 4 or better on Advanced Placement (AP) English Language & Composition or AP Literature & Composition; or achieve a final grade of 5 or better on International Baccalaureate English A1 or A2 (higher-level or standard-level).
My A-level was not the IB but the German “Abitur” with an equal final grade as the needed grade in the IB.
Does this also provide the minimum English proficiency?
Does a DAAD-Test provide the minimum English proficiency?
On the webpage about applying for visiting students it says that is recommended to apply in July. But the registration for the courses will start a lot earlier?
How can I be sure that there ist still space in courses I wish to take?
Thanks for your response.
Stephan
Hi Stephan,
Thank you for your comment. There are eight different ways you can meet the English Language Requirement. Since the Abitur or the DAAD-Test are not explicitly covered on in the eight ways, unfortunately they do not meet the requirement. You can apply for a waiver on the requirement, and use these as a reason why you think you should be exempted from meeting it in one of the stated ways. There is no guarantee with a waiver whereas, if you meet the requirement, in one of the stated ways, you know for sure that you’ve met that requirement.
There is no way to ensure there will be space in the courses you want to take. Registration for September and January courses happens in July. So the best thing you can do it try to have you application in as early as possible, so you will be admitted when registration starts.
Kind Regards,
Kathryn
Many thanks for your response. I guess to go sure it is the best to take the TOEFL test.
So the course registration won’t open before July at all? Neither for degree-seeking students?
Hi Stephan,
Great to hear! Registration dates are currently posted online. They are assigned by year level.

Kathryn
I am an international student. I have submitted my high school grades / IB result before 15 July and saw the page of my High School grades were updated accordingly. Do I expected that my offer is firm? Or would the admission office give me a notice/ emal telling me that after the assessment of the admission evaluator, my offer is firm? Thank you for your time.
Ann
Hi Ann,
Thank you for your question! You should contact International Student Initiative directly so they can look into your individual application.
Good Luck!
Kathryn
